Hello teachers!

If you’re looking for a COVID-safe activity to help during this time, consider having me come to your class online and lead a whole-class songwriting workshop. This is a lesson I have taught multiple times, including in-person with my own students and as a summer music camp counselor. Over the course of our sessions, I’ll help create a brand new piece of music that is entirely generated by your students. I’ll facilitate the discussion, brainstorming, transcription, and shaping, but the finished song (and its score) will belong to you and your kids forever. In addition, I can coordinate your sessions to meet you and your student’s schedule.

This activity is so much fun, and the best part is that it’s never the same twice! Sometimes your kids will write a serious song, sometimes they’ll write something silly: you never know what they’ll come up with. Regardless, I’ll be there to help guide them along the way as we create a piece that they can perform either online in a virtual-choir style performance, or in-person!

Finally, as a teacher myself, I know that bringing in outside instructors can be complicated. That’s why I’m willing to work with any requirements mandated by your district to ensure that everything is done the right way the first time. Feel free to teach out and use the contact form if you have any questions!
